Australian family visa is especially designed for family members of Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents who wish to migrate to Australia in order to be reunited with their family. The family members can get permanent resident status with the family visa and can enjoy all the benefits and privileges offered to the Australian citizenship. Following relatives of Australian citizens or permanent residents can apply for family visa:
- Spouse of Australian citizen or permanent resident
- Parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle of an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Child, grandchild, adopted child, niece, or nephew of an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Brother or sister of an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
Family Sponsorship
Australian skilled sponsored visa or family sponsorship entitles applicants to obtain permanent residence in Australia based on their skills and work experience. The applicants can also be sponsored by a family member who is already a permanent resident in Australia or can obtain sponsorship through an Australian State or Territory.
Duration
There are various types of visa categories under the family visa subclass. The duration of the visa would depend on the type of application. Normally these are valid for two years and one can apply for a permanent residency after the two-year period is over.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility requirements are divided into certain categories. The applicant must be under the age of 45. The applicant should meet the qualification and work experience requirements of appropriate skills for their occupation and must have been assessed and found suitable by the relevant body. The applicants must nominate a skilled occupation that is included in the latest version of the Skilled Occupation List. The applicant must have been engaged in the paid employment for at least 20 hours per week in any of the occupation listed in the Skilled Occupation List. The applicant should undergo a medical test. The applicant should not have any criminal history and should get a clearance from his native police authorities. The applicant should be sponsored by someone who has been living in the country from a long time.
Spouse Fiancée and Partner Visa
The Australian government allows applicants, who are married to, fiancée or same sex partner to any Australian citizen to migrate to the country. The couple has to show that they are into a genuine relationship and that they are into the relation for at least a period of two years or they intend to get married with a span of nine months.
Child Visa Category
The government of Australia allows Australian citizens or permanent residents to bring their natural child to the country. They can also bring their adopted child. This is a permanent visa.
Parent Visa
Australian citizens can bring their dependent parents to the country if they can prove their dependency and if they do not have any other child in their native country. The dependent parents can also get a temporary visa to visit their child who is a resident of Australia under the contributory parent visa class.
