Child Visa

 

 

Child visa category was introduced to allow natural child, stepchild or adopted child of an Australian citizen or of a permanent resident of Australia to migrate to Australia. 

 

Based on the relationship between the child and his/her sponsor, a permanent child visa is granted by the Australian authority. A child can migrate to Australia under several categories that are illustrated below: 

 

Children aged above 18 years are eligible to applying for Austrian Child visa under this category. However, it has to be proved that these children do not have any parent to take care of them. Children, whose parents are mentally or physically challenged, are also eligible to apply under this category. 

 

A permanent Australian residence or an Australian citizen may sponsor a child but it has to be ensured that the Australian citizen is a close relative of that child.  

 

Children, who want to migrate to Australia under this category, should be less than 18 years of age. Besides that, their sponsors have to be either an Australian citizen or a permanent visa holder in Australia. However, in some cases, New Zealand citizen can sponsor a child. 

 

The adoption has to get approval from State/Territory adoption authority. However, if the adoptive parent has lived overseas for a period of 12 months at the time of the Australian visa application, the applicant can proceed without getting approval from the designated authority. However, the adoptive parent has to convince the authority that the applicant has not intentionally avoided any requirements pertaining to this adoption program by residing overseas during that particular period. 

 

Dependent Child Visa is a provisional visa program. Under this category, holder of a Provisional Partner Visa will be able to stay in Australia or to migrate to Australia for a particular period along with a dependent child.

 

After getting permission to migrate to Australia under this visa program, a child can apply for Permanent Partner Visa application.
