The schooling system in Australia is highly regarded as one of the best in the whole world. The schooling system in Australia is divided into five classes. They are Pre School, Primary, Secondary School, University, Career, and Vocational Training. 

 

A) Prep School - Prep School generally would refer to a place where children are groomed initially before they join primary school. The minimum age of the child should be three years. These schools are seasonal and are operated by the government or the community organizations or even might be operated by the private sectors. 

 

B) Primary School - As the name suggest primary school is the start of the basic full time education for a child. It normally starts from the age of six to the age of eleven or maximum up to twelve. 

 

C) Secondary School - Secondary school is followed by the primary school for children between the ages of eleven to sixteen. The government of Australia has made education mandatory until the age of 15. Normally every child gets the basic education up to the tenth standard. 

 

D) University - A child must pass the eleventh and the twelfth standard to enter into the university. There are around 39 universities in and around the country. The universities offer under graduate and postgraduate degrees in various courses. The session normally begins in the month of March. There are normally two semesters.  

 

E) Career and Vocational Training - The vocational training programs in Australia are some of the best in the world. The TAFE registered institutes provide various technical and non-technical skilled courses for duration of six months to even three years. The courses are job specific and are designed after consulting the various top companies in the country. 

 

School year in Australia starts from January and ends in December. The year is divided into two semesters. 

 

The country’s education system allows private players as well as government run institutes to conduct educational programs. About 30 % of the children study in private schools that would charge tuition fees every year. Education is free in almost every public school. Public schools are mainly co educational. There are also hostel facilities in many schools for boys and girls to stay.

The applicant must show their visa, proof of birth, and papers relating to the previous schooling experience. The applicants must also show their immunization reports as a health security measures. The choice of public school is limited to the area where the parents dwell.
