Working in Australia is a dream to many aspirants from smaller countries around the world. The country has always been very cordial when it comes to welcoming skilled migrants from various parts of the world. 
 
Australian Work Permit
There are a lot of pros and cons involved in getting an Australian work permit. However, if the applicants have the papers clear and if they meet all the criteria, then they would surely get the work permit.
 
Permanent Independent Skilled Visa
Permanent Independent Skilled Visa allows applicants who qualify for this kind of visa to stay in Australia on a permanent basis, if they are independent and capable to sponsor their own financial needs.
 
Skilled – Independent (Migrant) visa (subclass 175)
A) You are scored on points relevant to the Australian Market - The applicants are allowed to migrate under such a visa, if they qualify with the requisite points and if his skill falls under the list of skills, which are there in the list of preferred skill set. The applicant must be very good in English. The applicant must score the minimum point, which is necessary to migrate independently without any sponsor. 
 
B) Work permit can include your spouse and family member - The applicant can also apply for the visa for his dependent family members or his spouse. 
 
Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) visa (subclass 176)
A) You must be sponsored by a relative living in Australia - This type of visa requires a sponsor, which is the basic difference between the former types of visa. The former should be a resident of Australia. The sponsor should be a relative of the applicant. The applicant should also score the minimum score and his skill should be included in the list of skilled occupation list. 
 
B) Work permit can include your spouse and family member - The applicant can include his spouse or his dependent family members into the same.
 
Temporary independent skilled visas
As the name suggest this type of a visa is not a permanent residency. The applicant can apply for a citizenship only after two years. The applicant is allowed to reside in the country for a period of three years. The applicant can apply for a renewal after the completion of this period.
 
Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 475)
A) It’s open for three years allowing the holder the opportunity to apply for permanent residency - The applicant is first allowed to stay in Australia for a period of three years. After that, the applicant can apply for a permanent residency and has to fulfill all the basic criteria to get such a visa. 
 
B) For this Australian work permit you must be nominated by a participating State or Territory government agency or sponsored by a relative living - If the applicants fail to qualify under the skilled independent visa, then they can apply for the regional sponsored skilled visa, if any of the regions would accept to nominate them. This happens if the skill that the applicant has is badly required in the region. The sponsor for the same candidate must be a resident of the particular region. 
 
Skilled – Recognized Graduate (Temporary) visa (subclass 476)
This particular type of visa is not judged on points. The Australian visa is for recently graduated students who are looking for work experience in such jobs, which are of high demand in the country. 
 
A) Holders of this visa can apply for permanent residence at any time - Such applicants, who have a skilled recognized graduate visa, can apply for a permanent residency, if they fulfill and pass under the skilled migration test. 
 
B) This work permit is for students who have completed an Engineering degree
The said visa is applicable for any student who has passed the engineering degree from various reputed colleges or universities across the world. 
 
Permanent independent skilled visas
Permanent independent skilled visa is for those applicants who have a particular skill set which is under the skilled occupational list. 
 
Skilled – Independent (Residence) Australian visa (subclass 885)
This visa is for students who have a skill set which is of huge importance to the country’s economy. 
 
A) For students wanting to move permanently and who have obtained an Australian qualification - The students, who have acquired an Australian degree through a span of two years and willing to migrate to the country, can apply under the Visa Subclass 885. 
 
B) For certain temporary Australian visa holders with skills in demand in Australia - People who have a temporary visa and they possesses certain skills, which are of high demand in the country, can apply for such a visa. 
 
Skilled – Sponsored (Residence) visa (subclass 886)
This type of visa is for such applicants who have not passed the skilled independent visa, but do have a relative who can sponsor them. 
 
A) For students wanting to move permanently and who have obtained an Australian qualification - The students who hold an Australian degree or any Australian qualification after studying there for two years can apply for such a visa.
 
B) For people who do not meet the Skilled – Independent pass mark but have either a relative in Australia to sponsor them - Applicants, who could not pass or get the requisite marks for an independent skilled visa, can apply for a sponsored visa, if they have any relative who can take the guarantee of the applicant in terms of his financial needs. 
 
Skilled – Regional (Residence) visa (subclass 887)
This visa is applicable for those who are nominated by any state or territory due to the crisis of the particular skill set that the applicant possesses. 
 
A) For people wanting to move to Australia permanently and who have lived for at least two years and worked for at least one year in a Specified Regional Area. - Individuals, who have stayed in Australia for at least two years and have at least worked for one year in any specific region, can apply for a skilled regional residence visa. 
 
Temporary and provisional independent visas
There are two types of temporary and provisional independent visa. They are namely, Skilled Regional Sponsored Provisional Visa Subclass 487 and Skilled Graduate Temporary Visa Subclass 485. 
 
Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) visa (subclass 487)
The skilled regional sponsored provisional visa is a temporary visa for three years. One can apply for a permanent residency after three years. 
 
A) For eligible overseas students and holders of certain temporary visas - People with temporary kind of visa and overseas students who have the requisite skill set can apply for such a visa. 
 
B) This visa is provisional for three years - The applicant is allowed to stay in Australia for a period of three years. 
 
C) Applicants must be either sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area of Australia - The applicant must be sponsored by a relative, who lives in the same region or the applicant must be nominated by the state. 
 
Skilled – Graduate (Temporary) visa (subclass 485)
As the name suggest, this type of visa is allotted to any graduate who has an Australian qualification and possesses a type of skill that is listed in the skilled occupation list. 
 
A) 18 month temporary visa - This type of visa is allotted for a year and a half and is on a temporary basis. 
 
B) For overseas students with an Australian qualification obtained in Australia after at least two (2) years study - A student, who have a degree from any registered college or university and has been studying in Australia for a period of two years, can apply for such a visa. 
 
C) Allows applicants who are unable to pass the points test to remain in Australia for 18 months - The immigration authorities allows people who are not able to pass the points test to stay and gain experience of work in the country for a period of eighteen months, after which one can apply for a permanent visa. 
 
Employer sponsored Australian visas
An applicant can be sponsored by any company, which is undertaking its operations in Australia and if they can prove the required skill set is currently not available in the open Australian labor market. 
 
(Permanent) Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 121/856)
As the name suggest this visa is applicable for those applicants who are sponsored by the employer based in Australia. 
 
A) For employers in Australia to sponsor highly skilled workers for a permanent visa - This type of visa is applied by such individuals who possess special skills, which are nominated by any particular organization based in Australia. 
 
B) Employees can be highly skilled workers from overseas or highly skilled temporary residents - The applicants might be people who are already holding a temporary visa or might be fresh migrants from other countries, having highly skilled training. 
 
(Permanent) Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (Subclass 119/857)
As the name suggest this visa is applicable if the state or the territory sponsors or nominates any individual possessing high skills in any required field.
 
A) For employers in regional Australia to fill skilled positions they are unable to fill from the local labor market - This type of visa is normally applied by applicant who is nominated by any region for skills, which has a deficit in the open labor market of the country.
 
B) Employers can nominate staff from overseas or temporary residents already in Australia - The employer can nominate people who have already migrated to Australia with a temporary visa, or can even get a fresh applicant from other countries with the valid skill set.
 
Temporary Business Long Stay – Standard Business Sponsorship (subclass 457)
As the name suggest this type of visa is applicable for people who are brought to Australia because of their special skill sets for a temporary period that can span from two months to three years. 
 
This Australian visa is for employers filling nominated skilled positions by employing overseas workers - This type of visa is applicable for applicants from abroad, who have been nominated for having a kind of skill set which is required currently in the country. 
 
(Temporary) Medical Practitioner Visa (subclass 422)
Medical practitioners and doctors can apply for a visa under this category if they are rejected under the other skilled migration category. 
 
A) This Australian work permit is an alternative route for doctors - As we said, this is an alternative way out for doctors who failed to get a visa under temporary business long stay visa. 
 
B) The visa is valid for between three months and four years - The visa under this category may be valid for just three months or can extend up to four years. 
 
Educational Visa
As the name suggest, this visa is valid for people who are skilled enough to hold various post in various universities in Australia. They may be librarians, laboratory demonstrators, researchers, or even academician. They may leave for three months to even four years.
