Skilled regional sponsored visa allows the applicant to stay in a designated part of the country based on certain work skills and educational background. This visa targets such individuals who are capable of contributing quickly to the Australian economy. 
 
Duration
The Australian government allows a skilled regional sponsored migrant a period of three years to stay in the country. The migrant can apply for a citizenship after staying consecutively for two years and have worked for at least twelve months in any particular area of Australia. 
 
Eligibility Criteria
The below mentioned eligibility criteria must be fulfilled by every applicant if one really wants to migrate to Australia. 
 
A) Age - The age limit of the applicant set by the Australian government is below 45 years. 
 
B) English language - Excellent oral and written communication skills and an apt knowledge in the language of English are required for the applicant.
 
C) Skills and Qualification - The immigration department of the Australian government would conduct a test for the applicant in order to judge his/her eligibility factor and the required skill needed to hold the skilled regional sponsored visa. The applicant needs to clear this test. The skill that the applicant specializes in must be enlisted under the skilled occupation list. This list can be obtained from the immigration department officials. A designated panel of competent experts appointed by the Australian government would evaluate whether the applicant possess the requisite skill.
 
D) Sponsorship Requirements - If the applicant is sponsored by the state or the territory, the skill set must be listed in the skilled occupation list of the particular state. When the applicant is sponsored by an eligible relative staying in Australia, the applicant must be related to the sponsor in one of the following ways:
 
- Brother or sister – including adoptive or stepsiblings 
- Grandchild or First cousin or Parent or Aunt or Uncle
- Non-dependent child – including an adoptive or stepchild 
- Niece or nephew – including adoptive or step–niece or nephew 
 
E) Health and Character - There is a qualified board of doctors nominated by the government of Australia, who would evaluate the medical condition of the applicant. The applicant needs to pass this health check up test. It is also required that the applicant must have the best of character and must get a police clearance from the countries the candidate has lived for more than one year in the last ten years, prior to submitting the application.
 
F) Where can a sponsor live? - The sponsor must prove that the candidate have been living in the designated area of Australia for more than one year and must prove that the candidate would continue to live in the country.
 
Pass the Points Test 
The applicant must pass the skill point test and should qualify with a minimum of 100 points as stipulated by the immigration department.
