If you have a minimum of one year of work experience in Canada in a managerial, professional or technical position at level 0, A or B under the NOC (National Occupational Classification System) you will be eligible to apply for Canadian immigration under the Experience Class Program.
Eligibility for Applying Canada Post-Graduate Work Permit
In order to be eligible for a Canadian Post-Graduate Work Permit, the applicant has to study for at least 8 months in a fulltime course before completion of their program. They also need to be a graduate from a public post-secondary academic institution (Colleges, Universities or CEGEP (in Quebec) or any private post-secondary institution that follows parallel rules and regulations as in a public institution. If it is a private institution then they should receive at least 50% of financing from the government of Canada.
Students need to apply for this permit within 90 days after receiving a written confirmation from their respective academic institutions that they are eligible to attend their selected programs. Applicants must have a valid Study Visa at time of submitting their application for a Post-Graduate Work Permit.
Some of the pursuing courses in Canadian institutions may end before 2 years but if they last longer than 8 months, then international students can still apply for Canada Post-Graduate Work Permit. A Post-Graduate Work permit is directly proportional to the length of your education program where the work permit cannot be longer than the student’s study program. If your study program is less than 8 months then you don’t qualify for a Post-Graduate work permit.
Duration of the Canada Post-Graduate Work Permit
The Canada Post-Graduate Work Permit is valid for a period of 3 years. After completion of 3 years, if the applicant has gathered a year of work experience in technical, managerial or any professional field, then they can apply for The Canadian Experience Class visa that enables an international graduate to secure permanent residential status in Canada.
