Tourist visa

 

 

A visitor visa is provided to such people who are looking for a temporary permit to visit and travel around Canada as a tourist with no intentions of staying in the country. Visitor visas are valid for six months and the applicant cannot stay without a valid extension. The applicant is also not allowed to work.

 

The entry to Canada as a tourist would require the applicant to pass the medical test, which is mandatory. 

 

A) Duration - If applicants are planning to visit Canada for less than six months then no medical test is required if they come from a country which is not in the designated country or territory list for medical examinations. 

 

B) Authorized Doctors - The family doctor cannot conduct the medical test. The department has its own panel of doctors in various countries. An applicant has to get the medical test done under the supervision of the authorized doctor. The list is available at any Canadian consulate. 

 

A visitor visa allows candidates to stay in the country for a period of six months. If their only intention is to travel and enjoy the country, then a visitor visa is the best way to get entry into the country. 

 

The three visa categories are as mentioned below:

 

A) Single entry Canada visitor visa - This sort of a visitor visa allows the applicant to stay once in Canada for the duration of six months. Applicants can apply for an extension before one month of the visa being expired. 

 

B) Multiple entry Canada visitor visa - This visa allows applicants to enter the country of Canada as many times as they want if they specify the period which in advance. The issuing officer decides the length of the stay.

 

C) Transit Canada visa - Transit visa as the name suggest are for people who are en route to another country and would stay in Canada for not more than 48 hours. 

 

The applicants must be financially sound and should be able to support themselves. The applicant must not apply for employment under any circumstances. The applicant should not also have a criminal background in his/her native country. The applicant should not pose a threat to the security of the country. The medical test depends on certain factors like the duration and the country they are coming from.
