Indian Tourist visa

Indian tourist visa is given to foreign nationals who wish to visit this country for the purpose of tourism or to visit their family members, relatives and friends. This type of Indian visa remains valid for a period of 6 months and the duration of its validity is often dependent on the nationality of the applicant.

Tourist visa is also referred as a travel visa or a visitor visa. This visa is issued to individual members and collective tourist visa is issued to a group consisting of more than four people travelling to India.

Benefits of Indian Tourist Visa
Unlike many other countries, the process of applying for a tourist visa in India is comparatively easier. In India, a tourist visa is issued not for permanent residency in the country but for a short-term stay. It is implied that a tourist or a foreign national after a visit to this country will go back to his/her own country. While granting this visa, it is ensured that the applicant will be able to financially support him/herself during his/her stay in this country.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Tourist Visas
In order to be eligible for an Indian tourist visa, an applicant must provide a current passport valid for a minimum of six months. The passport must also contain at least two blank pages. A fully completed and signed application form must be accompanied by the appropriate fee and two passport sized photos with the exception of applicants from Pakistan who will require five photographs and may need to undergo an interview.

Transit Visa to India
Indian transit visa is given to those foreign residents who have to pass through this country in order to reach another destination. A transit visa in India is valid for 15 days. To apply for this type of visa, the applicants have to present their travel tickets as evidence.

Spouse and Dependent Immigration
Immigration services in India do not allow spouse or dependant family member of a tourist visa holder to immigrate to India. This is only a temporary visa issued to a foreign national for a short period. If any family member wishes to accompany this person then he/she has to individually apply for tourist visa.
