Employment visa

Employment Visa in South Africa is designed for the purpose of temporary work and residency in the country. With a work visa, an applicant can live and work in South Africa providing he/she has a prior job offer from an employer.

South Africa Medical Visa
With a South Africa Medical Visa, a person can visit the country on a temporary basis to seek medical treatment in either a private or a public hospital or in any recognized health organization. This visa is not meant for permanent residency in South Africa. It remains valid for only 90 days and it is expected the patient will return to his/her country after the treatment is complete.

An applicant for a South Africa Medical Visa has to present a letter from the concerned medical practitioner or the concerned medical institution. In cases of emergency, a patient is allowed to enter the country without a medical visa. In such case, a patient should hold a valid passport and an immigrant officer would assess the case.

South African Work Permit
With a South African Work Permit, a foreign national can move to South Africa and work there under a specific job position for a temporary period. Nevertheless, other than some special cases, a South African Work Permit holder has to secure a prior job offer from a specific South African employer. In South Africa, work permits either are issued as a general work permit, or are granted along the quota system or on the grounds of exceptional ability.

Applying for a South African work permit allows a foreign national to immigrate to South Africa on a temporary basis in order to undertake an offer of employment.

The validity of this temporary work permit is 1 year. In certain cases, a work permit holder can extend his/her stay.
