UK Family Permit Allows British Residents to Live with Their Loved Ones
Whether you have recently become a British citizen or have always been one, you might have someone outside the UK that you wish to bring back home with you. Fortunately, there are a few different types of British visas that will permit you to bring loved ones back to the mother country. A UK Family Permit allows UK residents to bring their spouse, fiancé, children, parents, or grandparents home with them. Just make sure you obtain information about the appropriate permit for your situation.
UK Family Permit information can be found online from companies like Capital Visas, which specializes in UK immigration service and an array of visas necessary to gain entrance to Britain. If you need a permit for your spouse, you need to have met them in person, have lived together for at least two years, both be 21, and have enough money to not have to rely on public funds in the UK. After five years in the UK, your spouse can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain to continue living in Britain. If you have any dependents, such as children or close family members that rely on you financially, they can apply for the UK Family Permit at the same time as your spouse.
Similar rules apply if you want to bring your fiancé to the UK. In addition to the above requirements, you must intend to get married within six months of applying for the visa. Once you get married, your spouse can apply for a marriage visa, and after five years of living in the UK under that visa, they can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain.
No matter which visa your family members apply for, once they get to the UK, they will be eligible to work anywhere in the country. Additionally, if you and your family are not from the UK but are from a country in the European Economic Area, or EEA, similar British Embassy visas are available to you. In any case, you must be able to prove that your relationship with your family member is as you say, so you and your spouse must show that it is a real relationship, and your family members must show financial dependency on you. Such rules simply prevent UK residents from bringing over just anyone to live with them using a family visa.
