Family Visas
British citizens and lawful permanent residents can sponsor their non-EEA family members for a settlement visa to live and work in the UK. Eligible sponsors who wish to bring their foreign fiancee, de facto partner, husband or wife, or any other immediate family member to the UK, first must go through the UK visa application process. Petitioning sponsors and their foreign family members are required to complete numerous application forms and provide sufficient supporting documentation in addition to meeting strict eligibility requirements established by the UK immigration authorities.
Marriage/Spouse Visa:
This visa category is available to British Nationals who want to bring their spouses to live with them in UK. With successful spouse visa the applicant will have the ability to work or study in the UK as soon as the visa has been granted. Spouse visas for the UK are usually issued for a period of 27 months.
Fiancé Visa:
This visa category allows you to enter the UK if you are subject to immigration control and you are the fiancé (e) or proposed civil partner of a British citizen or a person who is settled in the UK, and you must intend to get married or register your civil partnership within 6 months of your arrival in the UK, and settle in the UK together afterwards.
Dependency Visa:
This visa category is available to visa holder who wish to bring their family members or relatives to stay with them for the duration of their visa entitlement. A Dependency Visa application is based upon a candidate's dependency on a person who is already a British citizen. A UK Dependency Visa application has no immigration related restrictions on the type of work or business a person may undertake on arrival.
De-Facto Visa:
This visa category is available to British nationals who wish to bring their unmarried partner to the UK, and it makes it possible for the unmarried partner of a person settled in the UK to gain entry to the UK on the basis that they are in a relationship with a person who is present and settled in the UK.
Ancestral Visa:
This visa category is available to foreign nationals who wish to visit the UK for tourism purposes. Ancestral visas for the UK are usually issued for a period 6 months which is temporary.
Medical Practitioner’s Visa:
This visa category is available to doctors who want to practice in the UK. To be eligible for this visa the candidate must be registered with the UK medical governing body.
Employment Visa:
Candidates from EEA countries are applicable for this visa as they are required to register themselves with Work Registration Scheme in order to come to UK for work.
British Citizenship:
Foreign nationals who continue to reside in the UK for more than five years continuously have the right to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain which permits them to live in the UK for an indefinite period of time. This it is equivalent to permanent residency.
UK Residency:
When an individual has achieved the indefinite leave to remain, the applicant can apply for Naturalisation. The immigration department will check the duration the candidate has stayed in the UK and whether the candidate has fulfilled the requirements.
Employer Sponsorship License
UK companies that need to recruit candidates from abroad must obtain a license for the employer sponsorship program. The Employer sponsorship license is a document issued by the UK government which allows a UK company to recruit foreign nationals. Furthermore, under this license the employer takes the sponsorship responsibility of the employee during the time period the candidate stays in UK.
Tier 1 Visas
The Tier 1 visa is available to foreign nationals who want to come to the UK for study, business and work purposes which are divided into following categories:
Tier 1 General:
This visa category allows highly skilled people to look for work or self-employment opportunities in the UK. Tier 1 General migrants can also seek employment in the UK without a sponsor, and can take up self-employment and business opportunities in the UK.
Tier 1 Work Permit:
Organizations or companies can recruit candidates from abroad by applying for a Work Permit.
Tier 1 Post Study Work:
This visa category allows the international (non-European) graduates who have studied in the UK to stay and work in the UK. It also enhances the UK's overall offer to international students. During your permission to stay under Tier 1 (Post-study work), you can look for work without needing to have a sponsor. It provides a bridge to highly skilled or skilled work. If permissions have been accepted by from the UKBA to stay as a post-study worker, it’s expected that you will switch into another tier of the points-based system as soon as you can.
Tier 1 Entrepreneur:
This visa category is for non-European migrants who want to invest in the UK by setting up or taking over, and being actively involved in the running of a business or businesses in the UK.
Tier 1 Investor:
This visa category is for high-net-worth individuals who want to make a substantial financial investment in the UK.
Tier 2 Visas
Foreign nationals who have received a formal job offer from a company in the UK can apply for this visa. They are required to present the employers sponsorship license at the immigration office to prove that he has a job offer.
Tier 2 Work Permit:
This visa category is for foreign nationals who have been offered a skilled job to fill a gap in the workforce that cannot be filled by a settled worker.
2 Change of Employment:
Change of work is not allowed under the Tier 2 visa. Applicants who apply under the Tier 2 visa are required to submit the employer sponsorship license proving that the applicant is skilled, talented and efficient.
Tier 2 Intra Company Transfer:
This visa category is for employees of multinational companies who are being transferred by their overseas employer to a UK branch of the organisation, either on a long-term basis or for frequent short visits. There are 4 sub-categories:
- Long-term staff: for established, skilled employees to be transferred to the UK branch of their organisation for more than 12 months to fill a post that cannot be filled by a new recruit from the resident workforce.
- Short-term staff: for established, skilled employees to be transferred to the UK branch of their organisation for 12 months or less to fill a post that cannot be filled by a new recruit from the resident workforce.
- Graduate trainee: this route allows the transfer of recent graduate employees to a UK branch of the same organisation, as part of a structured graduate training programme which clearly defines progression towards a managerial or specialist role
- Skills transfer: this route allows the transfer of new graduate employees to a UK branch of the same organisation to learn the skills and knowledge required to perform their job overseas, or to impart their specialist skills or knowledge to the UK workforce.
Tier 4 Visas
Students can apply to colleges and universities in the UK and student there under a Tier 4 visa program. The tenure of stay depends on the duration of the course.
Tier 4 General:
Depending on your nationality and circumstances, you may be able to study in the UK without needing to apply under Tier 4 General as an adult student. However, your ability to work while you are studying here may be restricted.
Tier 4 Student Visitor:
If you are an adult and you want to undertake a short course of study in the UK (such as a beginner's English Language course or a work-related training course), you may be able to come here as a student visitor.
Tier 4 Prospective Students:
This visa category is for prospective students who intend to study in the UK under tier 4 of the points-based systems but have not completed all the arrangements for their course of study.
Tier 4 Child Visitor:
This visa category is for children aged under 18 years old who want to come to the UK for up to 6 months (or up to 12 months if they are accompanying an academic visitor). This includes children who want to study in the UK for up to 6 months.
Tier 5 Visas
The Tier 5 visa or Youth Mobility Scheme visa is designed to meet the needs of creative and sports persons. Tier 5 is divided into two types, they are:
Tier 5 Creative and Sports workers:
The creative and sporting worker category is for people coming to the UK to work or perform as sportspeople, entertainers or creative artists for up to 12 months.
If you are a sportsperson, you must be internationally established at the highest level in your sport, and/or your employment must make a significant contribution to the development and running of sport at the highest level in the UK.
If you are a coach, you must be suitably qualified to do the job.
Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme:
This visa category is applicable to the youths who wish to visit UK for travel as well as work purposes for a limited period.
