US Immigration Coherent with the Economic Development
A report released in the first week of December 2009, stated that, the US immigrants are grossly contributing to the growth of the US economy. The report emphasized that the US immigrants have maintained a ratio coordinated with economic growth.
The Fiscal Policy Institute’s report states that the ratio has been maintained at 1-1. In fact, this ratio is visible across 25 prime metros. The research primarily, focused on the aspects like taxation, economic scenario and budget.
According to its studies, the immigrants in US, regardless of their status as an immigrant, contributed to form apparently 12% of the gross population in each of the metro regions and keeping in sync with the economic development, they contributed in the generation of apparently 12% of the economic output. This can be equated to the sum of the yearly income of all the workers.
This study also stressed on the fact, that the immigrant workers in the US were responsible for forming 14% of the labour market in grossly. In fact, these workers did fit in successfully in occupations, where they were paid quite heftily and they comprised of 13% of the class of skilled professionals like engineers, lawyers and doctors.
Ironically, the immigrants who comprised of the class of highly skilled personnel earn more than their contemporaries born in US do. According, to this report, the economic growth rate is related directly to the number of US immigrant’s. This indicates that majority immigrants are within the working age & they counterbalance the low paid immigrants in the labour market.
According to Oregon Centre for Public Policy analyst Joy Margheim, it should not be expected, that there are immigrant workers in all spheres of the income range. At the same time, the immigration restrictions are going to have an impact on a number of job types. He feels that the immigrant workers are already close knit in the US economic fabric.
